Michael Bergt is one of the most acclaimed egg tempera painters working today. His fastidiously detailed paintings are exemplary for their mastery of both draftsmanship and color. Bergt paints with a hair-fine brush, making his paint from egg yolk mixed with precious pigments such as ground lapis.
Often placed in the same category as earlier tempera painters such as Jared French and George Tooker, Bergt’s paintings enjoy great critical and curatorial acclaim.
