“In this piece, I wanted to talk about masculinity, particularly how toxic masculinity and its societal pressure forces men to avoid liking or talking about certain topics–including princesses and feelings– because they’re deemed feminine. My intent was to juxtapose the idea of hostages with these topics as a way of criticizing this societal norm.” August Escandon
