Sunset in Santa Fe

Brenda Zappitell creates abstract expressionist works born out of intuition and serendipitously influenced by nature and life experiences. Like other great abstract expressionist painters such as Joan Mitchell and Willem De Kooning, her work is more concerned with action and emotion than it is with narrative. Zappitell lived for several years in New Mexico, the area’s sky and nature evident in her paintings.
