This work in shades of red and white has the effect of the arabesque in art. The pearls represent the luxurious elements of daily life, yet they come from nature. The pearls are white, representing the purity of the natural world. Red is such a strong and vibrant color and the eye is drawn to it first. Red is often associated with vitality, health, and protection. There is a harmonious tension going on here as the white and red attempt to draw your attention. Ultimately, it is apparent that the white and the red tones bind together to create an effect that slows down the eye to let it rest within the whole image itself.
