Hung Liu Three Okies is part of Liu’s current series of works based on Dustbowl-era photography by Dorothea Lange. This groundbreaking series is Liu’s first foray into depicting American subjects, and part of this series will be included in her upcoming retrospective at the National Portrait Gallery in May, 2021.
