Patrick McNeil born in 1975 in Edmonton, Canada and Patrick Miller born in 1976 in Minneapolis, USA. FAILE lives and work in New York City, USA.
The name FAILE was created as an evolution of their first project “A Life.” Ever since they started working together in 1999, the duo has been known for their diverse multimedia approach noted for their investigations into fragmented methods of synthesis and assembly. FAILE´s creations are crafted using various visual elements, effectively erasing the boundary between “high” and “low” culture. Their iconic imagery is derived from intense research into popular culture, architectural motifs and mass media. With an emphasis on audience participation, a critique of consumerism, and the incorporation of religious media, this constructing and deconstructing of narratives results in a playful, yet powerful voice in their generation.
FAILE is recognized as early pioneers in the global urban art movement and has exhibited at Strasbourg Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, 2018; Art Science Museum, Singapore, 2018; Central Academy of Fine Art Museum, Beijing, 2016; Times Square, New York City, 2015; Brooklyn Museum, 2015; Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, 2010; TATE Modern, London 2008, among many others.
